Final Day in Iceland
Iceland has been a delight for the senses! The sights, from glaciers to volcanos and everything in between; the smells, from fresh breads to clear mountain air; the sounds, from church bells to bleating sheep; the tastes from hot lava soup to chocolate 😁; and finally the feel of sheep’s wool to glacier ice.
Today we are going to experience the largest flea market in Iceland before heading to the airport for a 3 hour flight to Oslo, Norway. We don’t arrive in Oslo until 11:30 tonight so other than a few photos from the flea market, there will be little posting today.
Entrance to the flea market
My only purchase was a printing press plate that I will use as a stamp.
This is the booth where I bought my stamp.
The flea market didn’t open until 11:00 and we needed to leave for the airport about 3:30. We figured that would give us plenty of time to browse. As it turns out, we were there for 25 minutes. Clearly Icelanders don’t understand Texas sized flea markets. 🤣
The next big question was what to do with the hours until our flight.
We decided to just drive around a bit.
Drove right by the OmNom chocolate factory (the famous Iceland chocolate). I had read they offered tours of the factory so we stopped to check it out. Unfortunately, they stopped the tours during COVID and haven’t started them back up. That didn’t stop us from buying more chocolate though 😁. I asked what OmNom means and she said it’s just the sound you make when you’re eating the chocolate. 🤣
Driving along the Atlantic Ocean
Geo thermal waters at the blue lagoon.
Amazing!
We are checking in for our flight so that will be all for today.
Next stop Norway!
At least you made the most of your last day in Iceland. I love the church “stamp” you got at the flea market. And chocolate!! What a serendipitous find. Those waters are so blue. And I bet they are even more so in person. Hope you have a good uneventful flight. See you in Oslo 😁😁 Love, J
ReplyDeleteSo much for the senses! Rand wonders how are you passed up going to the Bowie flea market ! Sounds like your adventure has been pretty close to perfect thus far. Colleen
ReplyDeleteI laughed right out loud about your extended flea market adventure. David said you should have gone through again in case you missed something lol. But time spent sight seeing is always better spent IMO. That water! Just wow! I have loved Iceland; can’t wait for Oslo❤️
ReplyDeleteI have been trying the OmNom while eating chocolate and you do make that sound. Oh my the blue, I thought Alaska blue water was absolute beautiful this surpasses it. Iceland has been a fun trip for John and I. Excited to Oslo, Norway
ReplyDeleteLoving your blog as always

Vicki
